REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force on 1 June 2007.
EC Regulation 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) requires employers/companies to do the following;
- Submit registration for the substances manufactured in, or imported into, the European Union in excess of 1 tonne per year, unless subject to certain exemptions.
- Keep any registration updated.
- Co-operate with other potential registrants of a substance to prepare a single hazard data set per substance and to avoid any unnecessary testing on animals.
