Caroline Raine Chemical Consultancy.
Caroline is a chemical legislation expert, with experience of interpreting and implementing EU legislation relating to hazardous chemical substances. Her knowledge and expertise is wide ranging, covering both supply and transport legislation including REACH, Safety Data Sheets, Poison Centres, ADR, COSHH, basically anything related to chemical safety and compliance!
Caroline is very passionate about her work and wants to ensure that everyone is safe in their work with dangerous goods and chemicals and that companies comply fully with the regulations. Caroline will also help companies to save money where perhaps they are overregulating, a good example of this is suggesting that companies transport in Limited Quantities (LQ) (where applicable of course!) thus saving money by not needing to purchase UN approved packaging.
This experience has been developed whilst working directly in the chemical industry, through consultancy projects and working with both government and specific working groups and trade associations. Caroline was the Technical Director at the National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC).
Caroline is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) for the transport of hazardous goods by road and rail and holds a post graduate certificate in REACH management.
Her depth of expertise means Caroline is able to help clients understand and manage their regulatory obligations, providing bespoke advice and guidance on specific regulatory matters and how best to comply.
Being a fully qualified DGSA for road and rail Caroline sits on a number of UK and international committees including several UK working groups concerning the Transport of Dangerous Goods. Caroline attends the Department for Transport meetings where forthcoming changes to the regulations are discussed. Caroline also sits on two working groups for the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on poison centres.
Caroline is the previous Chairman of the British Association of Dangerous Goods Professionals (BADGP) and was one of the founding committee members. And is also a member of the council of The Chemical Hazards Communication Society (CHCS). The CHCS runs a number of training modules and Caroline is the presenter for Module 8, Classification for Transport and for Module 10, Transport Labelling and Documentation along with module 4 Poison centres. Caroline is also deputy for a number of modules on UK REACH, Inquiries, Brexit, and a general overview of the regulatory landscape. She was responsible for the updating of the CHCS Safety Data Sheet User Guide which can be found on their website. Although it could do with being updated again!
Caroline is also the transport and poison centres and UK REACH and Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability Consultant and Advisor to the British Adhesives and Sealants Association (BASA) and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). Caroline is a DGSA to several companies.
Caroline has presented webinars on many topics mainly covering the transport regulations and poison centers and has done them for IOSH, BADGP and CHCS on transport legislation changes. Caroline has also spoken at many industry technical events including CHCS, BADGP, SafeCom, BASA, REACH Ready, Labeline, Chemspec Europe, Chemical Watch and the VCA.
As well as delivering consultancy work in the areas of chemical legislation for both supply and transport Caroline is an experienced trainer in Dangerous Goods Awareness, Lithium batteries, Chemical Hazard awareness, COSHH, Chemical spill response, CLP, REACH and Poison Centres.
Caroline can help you meet your chemical regulatory guidance by guiding you through your requirements, or she can take the pain away from you and just get it done!
